In this second part of The Tuscan Trilogy are described the next twenty years of Rosa's life after her marriage to her first love, Sir Robert Lonsdale, by which she becomes mistress of Bacchiano, the Tuscan castle in the heart of the Chianti region, and wife of the chairmen of on of London's leading merchant banks. It tells of her relationships with her two sons, Michael, a passionate wine grower married to Camilla an acclaimed pianist, and Pete, a talented painter who is heir to the vast Rossi International empire, but suffers from epilepsy and schizophrenia. Also of that with her cousin Vincent, a highly successful international financier, totally unscrupulous, who won't hesitate to murder to achieve his ends, and with Lydia, her granddaughter, who becomes a successful film actress.
